While some trans fats are found to be naturally occurring in some products (beef, pork,lamb, butter, milk), it is the artificially created trans fats that are most harmful to one’s health. Trans fats, or trans fatty acids, are created when a naturally unsaturated fat is altered by adding hydrogen to it, making it a partially hydrogenated fat. This is usually done to increase a foods shelf life, improve flavor stability, and to increase its boiling and melting points (making a liquid oil into a solid fat) allowing it to be a favorite of deep fryers everywhere.  Read More.
