Introducing Bella Lucia Vanilla Gluten Free Pizzelles! These Italian style Vanilla Pizzelles are made with a two-fold pure vanilla extract with twice the vanilla beans.  Bella Lucia pizzelles are made with the finest gluten free ingredients and there are no additives or preservatives to compromise taste or authenticity. Pizzelle (pronounced with ts sound, like “pizza”) (singular pizzella) are traditional Italian waffle cookies made from flour, eggs, sugar, butter or vegetable oil, and flavoring (often vanilla, anise, or lemon zest). Pizzelle can be hard and crisp or soft and chewy depending on the ingredients and method of preparation. The cookie dough or batter is put into a pizzelle iron, which resembles a small variant of the popular waffle iron. Typically, the iron stamps a snowflake pattern onto both sides of the thin golden-brown cookie, which has a crisp texture once it is cooled. Packaged 10 per pack.  Ne wt 6 oz.

Overview

Introducing Bella Lucia Vanilla Gluten Free Pizzelles.  The name Bella Lucia, which translates ‘Beautiful Lucy’, was named after the founders’ late mother, bringing the authenticity of Italian heritage into the name and product.  Bella Lucia was founded in 2009 with the belief that there is a better way to eat Gluten Free without giving up flavor and taste, merging traditional baking with new dietary needs. After being diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2004 and tasting the quality of cookies that were available we knew that there must be a better way to make a better cookie. Bella Lucia prides our selves with the traditional taste and flavor that merges it with new dietary needs that has become all too common.

Pizzelle (pronounced with ts sound, like “pizza”) (singular pizzella) are traditional Italian waffle cookies made from flour, eggs, sugar, butter or vegetable oil, and flavoring (often vanilla, anise, or lemon zest). Pizzelle can be hard and crisp or soft and chewy depending on the ingredients and method of preparation.

Pizzelle were originally made in Ortona, in the Abruzzo region of south-central Italy. The name comes from the Italian word for “round” and “flat” (pizze); this is also the meaning of the word pizza. Many other cultures have developed a pizzelle-type cookie as part of their culture (for example, the Norwegian Krumkake). It is known to be one of the oldest cookies, and is believed to have developed from the ancient Roman crustulum.[1] Pizzelle are known as ferratelle in the Lazio region of Italy. In Molise they may be called ferratelle, cancelle, or pizzelle.
